Alright - do me

160/3.62
Current (over 1 year) tobacco control research assistant at Stanford.
I have professional conference presentations, textbook co-authorship, 2-3 other research assistantships, awarded an undergraduate research grant, board member of psychology honor society, volunteer with Autism Speaks, tutored under-served children full time for a summer. Some other stuff.

Selling my PI background of tobacco control and other social justice research (all together I have about 2-3 years of research experience in social justice).

I tell myself I'll sell-out for money...but, if that doesn't happen, I'll likely want to do public interest. I am paying my own way. I don't want a lot of debt.

Predict me ($?) and give me thoughts:

Bay Area:
Hastings (ED)
Davis
Santa Clara
University of San Francisco

So Cal:
Pepperdine
Loyola-Marymount
University of San Diego

Boston:
Boston College (ya...I know)
Northeastern
Suffolk

New York:
Fordham (part-time)
Cardozo (part-time)
(I'd go full-time after 1L)

I know I'm going to be regional. I want to be in the Bay Area, followed by (in order of preference) Boston, then a toss-up between SD, NY, and LA.

By the way, if there are schools I missed...list 'em and predict 'em.

I'll just speak to the Bay Area, since that's where you want to be:

Assuming you're applying now:
In at Santa Clara, USF.
Most likely in at Davis, assuming your PS and LORs are good.
I'd give you a small but decent chance (<50%) at Hastings given your softs and ED.

Good luck!

I think you have a decent chance at Hastings. A friend of mine was accepted ED last year with a 159/3.7...fairly similar numbers. LSN shows mostly acceptances for your numbers last cycle, and the ED might help. Best of luck!

I second Lincoln's take.

Everyone would be well advised to use a condom.

Good odds at NE, maybe some money. That is a solid low-ranked school. They have decent employment stats. You won't make six figures, but you'll make 80-90k easy. I hear the school is AMAZING for QOL

LOR's are:

1. Senior research scientist (primary boss) at Stanford. She really likes me, work face to face daily over the year. She should definitely be a good letter.

2. Full professor from undergrad. I took a small, senior level research course (about 12 students). Also worked with her as a research assistant for about 1.5 years, she mentored me through the grant, presentations, 3 research projects (non-class related), and she thinks VERY highly of me and knows me very well. She was also the academic adviser for Psi Chi as I was an office. She, too, should be a very strong letter writer.

My PS should be good to strong (since I feel I have the softs to talk about). I'm gonna put that up tomorrow for some last minute critiques for my ED to Hastings.

Thanks everyone and keep it coming!

(note: the title was absolutely meant to imply what you think it was)

That 160 is really bringing you down..
My predictions

Bay Area:
Hastings (ED): Waitlist
Davis: Waitlist
Santa Clara: Waitlist or Admit
University of San Francisco: Admit

So Cal:
Pepperdine: Waitlist
Loyola-Marymount: Waitlist
University of San Diego: Waitlist or Admit

Boston:
Boston College (ya...I know): Don't bother.
Northeastern: Waitlist or Admit
Suffolk: Not sure

New York:
Fordham (part-time): Waitlist
Cardozo (part-time): Waitlist
(I'd go full-time after 1L)

You're only sure bet is San Francisco on that list. Good luck!

My predictions

Bay Area:
Hastings (ED): Waitlist - Waitlist
Davis: Waitlist - Pending
Santa Clara: Waitlist or Admit - Admit w/ $
University of San Francisco: Admit - Admit w/ $$

So Cal:
Pepperdine: Waitlist - Reject (half-hearted religious essay)
Loyola-Marymount: Waitlist - Admit
University of San Diego: Waitlist or Admit - Admit

Boston:
Boston College (ya...I know): Don't bother. - Reject (duh)
Northeastern: Waitlist or Admit - Admit
Suffolk: Not sure - Admit (no $ as of now, apparently they ran out)

New York:
Fordham (part-time): Waitlist - Reject (sad face)
Cardozo (part-time): Waitlist - Waitlist (Full-time)
(I'd go full-time after 1L)

You're only sure bet is San Francisco on that list. Good luck!
