It was a joke. And yes there are plenty of people I know that think they are URM's and are not. Your question was legit.
African Americans, Mexicans, Native Americans, and Puerto Ricans receive a URM boost.flawyer wrote:I heard this... do you guys know what URMs receive a boost and what URMs don't? Out of curiosity as a lot of my friends are applying... many of them black, asian, hispanic....
so hispanics dont get a boost? what if you are half black(boost), and half Japanese(no-boost).... then do you get half a boost? lol, seriously though...SilverE2 wrote:African Americans, Mexicans, Native Americans, and Puerto Ricans receive a URM boost.flawyer wrote:I heard this... do you guys know what URMs receive a boost and what URMs don't? Which race do you most identify with? That's all the question is asking, though it'll be hard to justify that you identify with African Americans if you're white of Irish descent from Ohio. And if you're hispanic but not Puerto Rican or Mexican you won't receive any boost other than many a minor diversity boost.flawyer wrote:so hispanics dont get a boost? what if you are half black(boost), and half Japanese(no-boost).... then do you get half a boost? lol, seriously though...SilverE2 wrote:African Americans, Mexicans, Native Americans, and Puerto Ricans receive a URM boost.flawyer wrote:I heard this... do you guys know what URMs receive a boost and what URMs don't? If you are sick can you get an immunity boost?SilverE2 wrote:Which race do you most identify with? if you report yourself Mexican, do you get more of a boost than if you report yourself: half mexican, half white?... feel free to be mean if you think this is a stupid questionSilverE2 wrote:Which race do you most identify with? As far as I know, most applications ask which race do you MOST identify with. So, you can't really report yourself half anything.SilverE2 wrote:if you report yourself Mexican, do you get more of a boost than if you report yourself: half mexican, half white?... feel free to be mean if you think this is a stupid questionflawyer wrote:Which race do you most identify with? This...coupled with thread title is sufficient. The rest is just meaningless fluff. USNEWS and the other rankings law schools use to boost their egos could give a damn about the condiments in your application sandwich...just bring the meat (LSAT), cheese (GPA) and the all-important special sauce (URM)Center2450 wrote:-
