Ecstatic to see a big jump in my July LSAT results (165 -> 173). I wasn't expecting to improve by that much, so I'm wondering if I should aim higher in the upcoming cycle.
My current plan is to blanket the T14 besides HYS, Chicago, and Northwestern. I am a little worried about my GPA being the scarlet letter that prevents me from getting scholarships at the lower T14, so I plan to apply to some T20s and my state flagship as well. I am not committed to doing biglaw so I don't know if taking on a bunch of debt is wise.
Do I stand a decent chance of getting into some of the T14 with a little bit of money?

Possibly worth a hail mary at HLS. Why the aversion to Chicago schools? T20 plus state flagship sounds like a good list, and you should apply broadly given your splitter status; it's a bit weird to be categorically anti-Chicago.

You can apply to T20 schools if you want, but you should expect admissions to the less GPA-sensitive T13 (i.e. not HYS, Chicago, or Berkeley). And I think you're likely to receive decent scholarship offers from at least some of the T13, possibly even CCN. Scholarships are a bit harder to predict based solely on stats.
And you shouldn't be excluding Chicago schools from your list.

I was under the impression I'd have pretty low chances at Chicago because of my GPA and lower at NU since I'm a KJD. If I'm mistaken, I'd be happy to apply there too!decimalsanddollars wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 12:14 pmhttps://mylsn.info/jbeg1n/

I think those are valid points, but the applications are still worthwhile. For some reason I thought you'd just decided that you would not be willing to go to Chicago for 3 years under any circumstances. Also, I agree with cav that your numbers should grant you admission with money within the T13.yeetyeetyeet wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 12:38 pmI was under the impression I'd have pretty low chances at Chicago because of my GPA and lower at NU since I'm a KJD. In the end, I was waitlisted across the T13 excluding Harvard and Virginia, where I was rejected, and Yale and Stanford, where I did not apply. I was eventually admitted off the waitlist with a deferral offer at Michigan w/120k, so I'll be heading to Ann Arbor in 2022 and working for a year.
All things considered, I'm pleased with this outcome as I think the life experience of a year's work will be valuable and Mich can definitely get me where I want to go.
