Hi everyone,

I have a 3.95 GPA and a 168 LSAT. I am planning on applying Early Decision to UVA. I know I may receive money elsewhere, but I have been a paralegal for the last year, and saved up a good amount of money.

What are my chances?

Please do not do that. You should get money from them let alone lower T13's with those numbers. No need to ED. What you should consider is re-taking and getting into the 170's, which you are capable of doing. If you can do that, you could go to UVA tuition-free. ED and you're looking at sticker.

Just because you have money doesn't mean you should endeavor to waste it as quickly as possible. Paying sticker for UVA would be a sad waste of your GPA. And as a reverse splitter ED is unlikely to help you anyway - your chances with either ED or RD are soldily in the "decent but wouldn't be surprised by a waitlist" zone.

If you want to go to UVA that badly then you should focus on eking out an extra point or two on the LSAT.

I'd also question what your definition of a good amount of money is as there's only so much you could have saved up being a paralegal for a year even if your parents were covering your living expenses. $30-40k post-tax is maybe enough for a year of rent in DC or a few vacations. I also think getting 2 more points on the LSAT would remove the requirement to apply ED altogether (although you'd probably get in RD with your current #'s).

I got a Dillard to UVA with almost those same stats. Don't ED.
