3.5 / 159 -- Retake?

Hey all - I have an upward trending 3.5 from U of Michigan (3.7 without sophomore year), a 159 on the June 2017 LSAT, two years work experience at a top 20 law firm in Los Angeles, and LoRs from the VP/General Counsel of the University and a top partner at my firm.
Should I retake the LSAT? I was ~2 points lower than my average. What are my odds for scholarship money currently?
Ideally, I want to end up in the Midwest (Chicago / Michigan).
Thanks!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but those are pretty average softs.
You should probably retake, but what kind of work are you hoping to do in Chicago/Michigan?

As it stands, you'd need to go to a law school with pretty bad placement numbers to not have a mountain of debt hanging over your head. I think a retake is in order. In the meantime, you should also share your career goals with us, so we can give you better advice.

Those aren't all my softs - I was a senior editor at the school newspaper, a founding member of multiple clubs on campus, held a leadership role with the campus Relay for Life, and now volunteer at a legal clinic.
I'm aiming for a mid-sized law firm or business/industry work in Chicago/Michigan.

Your softs are still average amongst t-14 students. You have to realize that you are competing against some of the best students in the country for admission into school. Based on what you have stated here, unless you have other factors in your favor (such as urm status or an olympic gold medal), your app seems meh.

Retake with a new study plan. Your degree from a top UG is likely worth more than a JD from the types of schools you can go to
