Canadian wanting to come south for Law School (LSAT 170, uGPA 3.86)

Hey guys,

I did my undergrad and now finishing my master's in chemical engineering in Canada. Got a 170 on the LSAT and 3.86 uGPA. Also have a few years of engineering experience. Thinking about ED at Northwestern, Chicago, Michigan, uPenn and Berkeley. From my understanding, I think I have a good shot with my numbers, but is there any way that being Canadian negatively impacts my chances?

And does research experience in engineering help in anyway in terms of chances of getting accepted. Also, what kind of scholarship money (if any) would I be looking at considering my numbers?

I had basically identical numbers and got into Michigan Penn and Berk. Waitlisted at NW and Chicago. I don't think being Canadian hurts you. Research experience might help you a little, but it's predominantly a numbers game. You have a decent chance at all 5 assuming the rest of your app is strong.

Being Canadian won't hurt you at all. Your (amazing) GPA will be treated the same as any ol' American one, and you will live and die by the numbers like the rest of us :D I think you have a really good shot at all of them, except perhaps Chicago where you're more in the middle range of what they usually take as opposed to being closer to the top 25% for the other ones.
