164 on June, 3.8 UG GPA; summer accounting internship

My dream schools are SMU and UT. I don't know if I'll be able to go to law school without good scholarship money, so I'm leaning more towards SMU. I know a 164 at UT would be very iffy already. I want to practice in Dallas in corporate/transactional. I'm an Arkansas resident, so I'd be eligible for a Sumner scholarship. Any info/opinions on chances at these schools for admission/scholarship and chances at a Sumner would be greatly appreciated.

UT - WL
SMU - In w/ 30K a year is my guess.

Apply to UHLC (30-45K) and Baylor (90-Full) also for scholarship leverage.

Edit: If you are MA/PR you may have a shot a 40-50% shot at UT. If you are AA/NA you are in at UT. Though being out of state may hurt.

I heard that SMU punches above its weight (rankings wise) for biglaw placement, esp in Dallas. I think that you have a good shot at SMU + $, which could be a solid choice if you're open to contingency plans if you strike out for biglaw.

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback. I've looked into SMU pretty hard and being that Dallas is my goal I think it could definitely be a good choice. I have absolutely no interest in Baylor, but I'd apply to UH just for negotiation leverage. Bottom line, I should plan to retake in September if I want to really boost up into full ride territory right?

You have a great GPA; don't waste it with a 164. Definitely retake
