I think you should retake the LSAT and aim for some T14.

I am not sure about Top 50; perhaps some school may be willing to take a lower LSAT. But top 20 seems unlikely.

General consensus seems to be that unless you have impacted the world in some meaningful way your softs are average at best and won't change anything. Developed a cure for cancer, wrote a best seller, Nobel prize winner? Great softs. Worked at a law firm/worked in non profit overseas/teach for America/anything involving school organizations(even being president) are average

...That I won't get into a T50 even or T20 is what you are saying?

Teach for America I believe is considered above average, as is military service.

According to myLSN you have no chance at T20, some chance at the lower T50s

Are you a member of any underrepresented minority groups? That could shift the acceptance landscape significantly.

It's not nearly above average enough to overcome a 156 LSAT. That 156 stops the record from playing.

I am decently surprised how nice people who have responded to this thread are. Good job TLS!

OP -- Short of curing cancer, it is doubtful that you have "strong softs." Your numbers are mediocre at best for T50, so you have a very slim chance of getting into lower T50 (likely not though). With your GPA, if you can get your LSAT to 160, then yes you will get in at some T50, and 167 might get you into some T20.

Good luck!

You may get somebody to bite in the T50... you'll have to pay so much that it won't be worth attending, but I wouldn't be shocked if you got an acceptance.

You should not debt finance law school at any school that would take you with a 3.4/156.

Oh, for sure, I didn't mean to suggest that it was.

I'm also really surprised at how nice everyone has been on this thread!

You're GPA and LSAT are well below the 25th percentile AND 25th lsats for almost all the T20, so I would say it would be extremely difficult.
As for T50, I think you have a shot at the lower end (still difficult because you're still below both medians). For example, at UMD-Carey (ranked 47 in 2015), you would be right on the 25th for Lsat and just below median for gpa. Not great but you still have a chance if your softs are really that great.

I'm repeating what someone said about softs, but they really don't give you too big of a bump unless you did something that's SIGNIFICANTLY different from that of everyone else. Remember, you might be doing awesome things, but there are thousands of applicants, and it's most likely that there are some who probably did the same exact thing and had better numbers.

You shouldn't go to law school anywhere that you'll get in with those numbers, so whether you can get in is irrelevant. You're better off not getting in.

haha so you're saying that anything below T50 should cease to exist?

Everything other than the tier of strong regionals that ends around 30-35 could cease to exist (other than state flagships, of course) and students would be better off.

OP, just look at this link and you'll have a good idea of your chances. If you've got one hell of a life narrative you can punch a bit above these numbers, but be honest with yourself about whether you're going to really stand out from everyone else on paper - 95% of people don't.

Seriously, go to law school transparency and calculate the odds of getting certain incomes and figure out your cost of attendance. It's easy to calculate whether law school is a solid investment. I've never seen that lsat lead to that outcome. It's overwhelmingly likely that any school that would accept you currently would be unlikely to generate you enough money to pay for that education in the first place. Fwiw you have a better gpa than I do, and my lsat was originally around there. I buckled down and retook until I had a great score, went to a great school and got a great job. What I'm saying is you're screwed, but only if you refuse to retake, otherwise you could be golden!
