"Just a few days ago LSAC gave us an update on applicants for 2016-17 through February 12; now we have an update through February 19. Now they are reporting that "As of 02/19/16, there are 241,604 applications submitted by 37,082 applicants for the 2016–2017 academic year. Applicants are up 1.7% and applications are up 1.4% from 2015–2016. Last year at this time, we had 66% of the preliminary final applicant count." Based on this preliminary data, one would predict that there will be around 56,184 applicants for 2016-17." -The Faculty Lounge

What impact will this have on the admission cycle? Will this make things more competitive or really have no impact?

I'd like to hear an answer to this too and I'd like to further ask (since it's related):
How has job placement been in general? Has the legal job market been growing or declining in demand?

*UPDATE*

LSAC is reporting that "As of 02/26/16, there are 252,657 applications submitted by 38,541 applicants for the 2016–2017 academic year. Applicants are up 0.05% and applications are up 0.2% from 2015–2016. Last year at this time, we had 69% of the preliminary final applicant count." Based on this preliminary data, one would predict that there will be around 55,857 applicants for 2016-17.

So as of now it's now only up about .05%, this is more desired than the original 1.7% - but still curious of what effect this will have for admissions.

Yeah, a 1.7% difference half way through the cycle doesn't say much.
