Should I early Upenn?

Hello,

I have been accepted to Vanderbilt and WashU(scholarship) and am waiting for other schools admissions.
My score is 167/3.88 .
Is it a good idea to early(cycle 2) UPenn?

Thanks in advance,

Why would you apply early to Penn rather than, for instance, go to Cornell with $ (which looks likely given your numbers)?

What do you mean by "early Upenn"?

Short answer is no :)

Are you comfortable paying sticker? EDing schools is generally a bad idea unless you are independently wealthy or have someone else helping you pay for it. Also, the slight ED boost probably isn't worth forfeiting the opportunity to see how much money you get from other schools.

Not sure any of that is worth paying sticker rather than going somewhere that would give you money.

Thanks for replies!

I am kind of nervous because I did not receive admissions from other schools other than Vanderbilt and WashU yet.
Comparing UPenn to WashU($105000), is EDing UPenn better?
Or should I just wait for other school's decisions?

Thank you in advance!

Why don't you just apply RD this cycle and if you get rejected and really wanna go, ED next cycle.

Why would this not make sense, If the assumption is that ED gives a boost? If the OP applies RD now, mylsn gives him 25% chance at acceptance. That's slightly less than what I was predicted at the T14 that I've already been accepted to. If he gets rejected now, he can possibly retake, bump up his LSAT and get in ED next cycle, if he wants to do that.

I don't think this is TCR because OP is below both medians.
OP is at/above both medians at like 4 or 5 other t14s, which is why he should apply RD and get fat scholarships there.

I can name a few reasons.
1. Penn is more prestigious
2. Penn is better represented at elite NYC firms
3. Philly>Ithaca
4. Penn Law students can take classes at Wharton
5. LRW is P/F at Penn, whereas it is graded at Cornell
6. QOL is "supposedly" better at Penn

All of that except the bolded is probably true. See the post below.

i did the east coast schools, c/o 2013 stats

cls - 22.43%
cornell - 16.58%
nyu - 16.57%
h - 16.26%
y - 14.78%
penn - 11.97%
duke - 11.62%
uva - 9.07%
gulc - 8.68%
howd u do this
nlj data + lst + vault rankings + a calculator
But I don't know if all of the above is still worth EDing Penn. Sticker price at any law school in the country is probably a bad move for most people in most circumstances.

That's completely normal. Just relax. Don't do it.

edit: biglaw1990, ED'ing any school that doesn't offer some sort of guaranteed scholarship is a bad idea. I'm sure it worked out just fine for you (update us in 3 yrs pls), but don't advise others to do it. If OP has piles of money laying around, then obviously it doesn't matter--that's not worth pointing out.

Biglaw1990 wrote: I'm not advocating for the OP to ED to Penn. I was just listing reasons why Penn is better than Cornell. As I previously stated, OP has yet to tell us his financial situation. That is going to make all of the difference.
This was the question:

Are you stating that your response wasn't a list of presumably decent reasons that would justify someone EDing Penn vs $ at another T14? Because if so, I think those are bad reasons. If that wasn't your intention, then your post wasn't really responsive at all to H&G's point at all. I digress, though.

OP, you have a very high possibility of being accepted RD at many T-14 schools. I don't think you should ED anywhere. If Penn is absolutely-positively your first choice for some important, idiosyncratic, personal reason, I would just retake/reapply next year if you don't end up getting it RD. It's probably not worth the price tag.

Even if family is paying 100% it is objectively stupid to ED to Penn.

Thanks again for replies.

I just received an admission from Georgetown too, but did not receive scholarship yet.
My financial situation is not bad but I would prefer some scholarships if possible. Do I have a chance of scholarship at T14 schools?

Thanks again in advance.
