Hello internet

I have a 3.6 GPA and just got a 166 LSAT in october (93rd percentile). I want to go to SMU, thats where my parents and two uncles went. I'm hoping that because my score is above the median that I'll be accepted in January. But, I want to know my chances of getting in with money. Anyone on here get in with money with my score/gpa or below?

very likely that you will get a good amount of money, since you're over 75th for LSAT and over median for GPA. What is your family's relationship to the law? do they own a firm, are they in a position where they can easily get you a job? If the answer is no, make sure you send UT an application.

Take a crack at UT. SMU has weird scholarship offerings. It usually breaks into something like this:

$15,000 per year, no conditions
$24,000 per year, no conditions
$30,000 per year, no conditions
Full scholly, top 1/3 condition

They don't budge. Believe me I tried. They could change this. The problem, from an expected-value standpoint, one is almost smarter to take the 30k without a stipulation. SMU could be worth it with 30k scholarship. I chose UT over them and don't regret it so far.

Both of my parents have their own firms and I can definitely get a job with them or through them. I am applying to UT but I really want to be back in Dallas! Although living is Austin wouldn't be so terrible haha

I'm a 1L at SMU, you'll definitely get in with at least a half scholarship but probably more. If you go to UT you can work anywhere in Texas. Even in Dallas, UT >>> SMU

Edit the OP and include this information. SMU makes sense in your case with a big scholarship. Make sure you apply to other schools so that you can try to negotiate (even though it looks like SMU isn't very lenient.)
