3.75 uGPA 4.0 grad GPA (library science)
LSAT: 165 (February) -> 170 (June) -> 178 (October)

So, I'm wondering if I can get into HYS. I think my GPA is probably solidly too low for Yale regardless. I think I might be good for Harvard, but I know they penalize multiple LSATs. Will my grad degree help smooth out my GPA? Should I mention that my GPA is that low exclusively because I got a math minor (I suck at math and got a bunch of B's)?
check LSN for chances info, that data will be more useful than the speculation here, I wouldn't write any sort of addendum about GPA being low if your only excuse is a math minor. Also I'm not sure where you got your info, but Harvard does not penalize for multiple LSATs. They explicitly state in their admissions FAQ that they will only use the highest score in their evaluation. You can check out that link here: http://hls.harvard.edu/dept/jdadmission ... q/#faq-2-2
it is under "should I retake the LSAT"

Anyway, you have a great LSAT and a solid GPA, you're definitely going to have a good cycle, best of luck.

ETA: Your grad GPA won't "smooth out" your GPA. The LSAC calculated GPA only takes into account your first undergrad degree.

They do not penalize for multiple takes

If library science is what I think it is, it's actually a great major to have for law school - great research and writing skills. So yeah. Kudos.

All I read were the first two or three sentences.

Seems like it's not that real of a thing.

Just because there doesn't happen to be a lot of demand for them doesn't mean it's not a real thing. If all the mines in the world shut down tomorrow and all those dudes were unemployed, it wouldn't make mining engineering not a real thing.

You're clearly going to have a bright career in international law.

When I start at the ICC we can finally indict you for being a jerk. But seriously, majoring in library science is a dumb career decision. That doesn't somehow invalidate whatever they learned getting it.

I thought library science has been phased out by information science/systems. No?

Explain the two previous scores succinctly. A bit more difficult since you have two. Kick a## on the personal statement (incredibly well-written) and have 1-2 amazing/unique experiences (potentially write your PS on it) and you have a good shot at one of them.

Do not write an addendum for the scores. That is bad advice

@Mack: Curious as to why you think that writing a brief addendum re: LSAT score disparity is unwise.

likelihood of admission:

H>>>>>>Y>>S

ETA: more than even money at H, probably <20% at Y and S. Retakes will hurt you at Y, so it may be more like H>>>>Y/S. FWIW I don't think you need "amazing" experiences for H, but a well-written PS, strong LORs, and a good interview will be critical. Good luck!

Thanks! Why do you think that I have lower chances at S than Y? I was thinking highly unlikely at Y (although there are very similar candidates who got into Y on lawschoolnumbers) but better at S than H. And I'm hoping that my softs will push me up the list a bit.

EDIT: Probably not applying to S anyway, just curious. I have very little interest in moving 1500 miles away from home.
I don't know why you'd have a lower shot at S, but things look pretty grim at both.
