More than numbers.

Hey guys!
I'm new to the thread, and wanted to get some input. I'm taking the LSAT this Saturday, with my most common scores being 162, 165, and 167, making my range 162-167. First, does anyone have any last minute tips on what I could do this week to make sure in my upper range this weekend?
Also, I was wondering if I could get a law school analysis. I'm graduating from a top tier university with a B.S. in Accounting and a B.A. in International Relations. Our accounting program is in the top five in the world and I'm at a 3.56 right now, with almost no way of increasing or decreasing as I'm at 145 credits and no classes I take will make enough of an impact to sway that either way. I'm also a first generation bachelor's-receiving college student and an immigrant.
I also accepted an offer to work with a Big 4 Accounting Firm and will be taking the CPA this summer only in order to pay my way through an MBA at one of the best business schools in the country then immediately applying to law school in my last year of the MBA program.
Although my GPA and LSAT are on the lower side, will the CPA, experience, top tier schools, and MBA be able to outweigh the GPA and LSAT for any top tier universities?
Also, what schools should I be looking at?
Thank you!

It's kind of a painful realization to come to, but you are your numbers and very little more. All the factors you mentioned in terms of degree and experience will matter when you go to get a job out of law school, but not in the getting in part. The only thing that really sways the numbers is if you are a URM. Good luck though, it sounds like you at least have some good options on the table.

Lol why would you try to get a top MBA then go right to law school. I can't imagine many things that make less sense.

Thanks for the responses! I'm getting my MBA because the firm is paying for it once I get my CPA and if it's free, it's silly not to. I just recently actually decided on law school so I signed my offer and applied to the MBA program before looking to go to law school.

What? Why? Don't do this. Use the MBA.

Not really. Softs help, but at the end of the day it's a numbers game. There's the odd exception, but you probably won't be it. Work for a while with the MBA and you might be more appealing but then, why bother with law?
Also, what schools should I be looking at?
none right now
Thank you!
You're welcome

.Get a 170 and you will be all set
2. What is the mba? Top 15? If not I wouldn't bother.
3. If your firm pays for the Mba u will absolutely have to go work there for a couple of years or you will need to pay back the firm. No firm is going to give you a free ride.

I'm in a similar boat, albeit in Canada - just started CPA while working B4 and am writing tomorrow - unsure at this point whether I will do CPA then law, go straight to law next year, go to a joint JD / MBA next year, or never do law. Under no circumstances would I do all three though... even if it's not a waste of money, it's a waste of effort and frankly having both a CPA and MBA is redundant and just sets you back time before you can actually start earning real money.

Dude, you seem to have it made. A top accounting/CPA program and then a top MBA, plus a big4 group. Why in the world would you want to give that up, before you've even started it? Also... are you getting scholarships/family money for this? An MBA+CPA+UG degree all cost a lot of money... a law degree is an extra 250+k...I see that your firm is paying for an MBA, but did you graduate without any debt for your UG/CPA?
In terms of getting in... well, you're almost def out at HYSB. Your GPA won't get you precluded anywhere else, but you'd be hard pressed to get many full rides. You'd also need to absolutely crush the LSAT to really have a shot at t6 and money at lower t-14. You're sort of in that middle ground, where no-one would say a 3.56 is a BAD GPA, but it's not good enough for elite elite schools... and even with your softs, numbers are what matters, above all else. (Unless you cure cancer.)
Seriously though... why would you WANT all of these degrees??? It's so much money and time spend on school, when instead you could be working and MAKING money.

no law school makes sense for you - not even Yale.
