Advantages from moving from3.5-3.6 to 3.6-3.7 GPA range? Forum

How sensible do you think it is to extend my UG career and get take a few additional classes to get into this 3.63.7 range instead of graduating in May.


From my take I would say I would open up doors to Colombia, Chicago, Harvard, and Berk ( listed from most likely to least likely in terms of admissions with a GPA increase).......that I may not have the chance to otherwise in the 3.5/3.6 range even with a stellar LSAT.


Note: I do not have an LSAT timeline yet so there will be no interference between the two ( was PTing at 168-172 but now taking a break until UG is over)....I also know LSAT is far more important but at the same time at some schools there are GPA floors that are very hard to overcome even with a stellar LSAT so thats why I want to get feedback on this.....( also GPA is taking priority now because unlike LSAT you only get one chance to do UG whereas on the LSAT you get several chances and schools really only care about the best

I did it to increase my chances at YHS/scholarships. Transferred to a school with A+ grades and increased my gpa from the 3.7 range to the 3.85 range. Pretty sure it'll be worth it when I apply. I did, however, not have over 90 credits so my gpa was improved by much more than if I was about to graduate.

True but even though i have more college hours......I have a lower overall GPA than you did prior to your transfer....so a 4.0 semester is going to have a bigger increase on a 3.5's overall GPA than a 3.8's GPA...almost like its much easier to move from a 150-152 LSAT than a 172-174

If you have a 3.5 and 120 credits, then 15 hours of straight A's will raise it to 3.56. Not sure what you're working with though.

Regardless, if there is a chance to get into the 3.7 range then I say go for it.

Roughly a 3.55 right now....I don't think I can get into the 3.7 range ( well in theory yes, but it would take quite a while is to probably not make it worth it...my UG college only gives A's not A+'s so the climb is a little longer)

So 3.7 range is out of the the question .....but between the 3.6-3.7 range is possible for me
