I saw this and was wondering, is it possible to vastly under/over perform your numbers

I almost think this candidate must have had a C&F issue or some other major turnoff....because A&M would love to have a 173 since it is about 20 points past their median.
Doubt it was as simple as underperforming the numbers, must have been something adcomms turned off by

Could be yield protection. What's the chances of someone 20 LSAT points above me median actually enrolling?

Why wouldn't they wait list this person instead of ding them though? Doesn't make sense
