I've looked on mylsn but was hoping for some more color from people. Do I have any chance at Stanford or should I save the app fee?
3.57(solid upward trend), 172, 2 years full time WE, no special softs but 2 good internships during school, non-urm

I'd think you'd be able to snag NYU at least.
Don't go blindly chasing ranking, there are some other neat schools out there that might be worth attending based on cost.

Very, very similar stats, applied to SLS anyways, got rejected (on Valentine's Day, no less).
It's a waste of money but I'm glad I applied anyways. Would have always wondered what if.

I agree. Definitely not a rankings whore. CCN are my top choices mainly because of location, thus Northwestern is toward the top of my list as well.

I'll add another data point:
I did not apply to Yale and never once have I wondered "what if" because I know what would have happened "if"
But YOLO

I didn't apply to Yale and regret it even though I absolutely would have been the first person they rejected. Different personality types, I think.

Plus like Philly said, you never want to be wondering "What If?"
Fair point. I'll probably give it a shot. Not much to lose.

If you want to be in NYC long term then Cornell might be a nifty school to apply to as well
I would apply to the entire T14 and see what happens, sans a couple based on whether or not you believe that you only live once

Yeah, probably, my personality is p bad
I did apply to Harvard and Stanford though, but then again I copped a waiver. Might not have applied if it cost me the full hundo but the Stanford app was my YOLO moment (Harvard was my "they have a huge class maybe they'll just accept me on accident and not try to fix their mistake because it won't affect their medians too much" moment)

According to LSN, no non-URMs around your numbers were admitted this past cycle, but in 2012-2013, Faye took 2 (3.53, 3.6/172). There's hope, but it depends on how much $100 would be worth to you otherwise.

(4 admits, 0 WL, 5 rejects over the last 3 cycles in the 3.5-3.6/172 range, non-urm)
Yeah, this is what initially got me thinking that it may be worth a try. Obviously a very small sample space though.

There is no hope for mere mortals. Literally 0. No hope at all. Abandon all hope, ye mortals who apply to SLS. The OP tipped us off to their mortality with their OP. No softs. Game over.
I'm absolutely not saying don't apply. But the question is would the OP be wasting 100 by applying? Yes, in the sense that they have literally no chance of being accepted.
But if the question is should they apply? That's where YOLO comes in.

you only live once bro. don't waste precious minutes applying to a school you'll never get into.
