Preliminary results:
The only thing that might swing you into these schools is the professional athlete angle, but that depends, are you a NBA starter (this would be a short list as non-URMs), or soccer bench warmer? But even then, I don't know how far being an athlete can carry you. Unfortunately majors and degree-granting institutions really don't matter. 3.5 from Phoenix Online University in Jewelry making trumps 3.0 from Harvard in Electrical Engineering.
Although if you're in pro sports I say take the women and money and leave law school alone.

If you have good interviewing skills, going to any t-14 would get you a great job irrespective of grades. Someone will hire you because you were a pro-athlete (assuming a major 4 sport or professional soccer). But I would imagine there are fields where it would be better. Being a bench warmer and coming from a TT wouldn't be enough.

Are you going to try to attend law school while still playing your sport/in the off season? Or are you retiring soon? Guess I'm confused as to why all this has to happen right now.
I would think an lsat score in the mid-high 160s would open up a lot of doors for you, if only for the aforementioned brochure factor. The pro athlete thing is kind of beyond TLS's expertise. If you were a schmo-y 159/3.45 we would just tell you to retake.
So I guess retake?

Super Softs? I don't know. I think playing a non-popular pro sport (and not starting) is the same as playing D1 Football (and not being a starter). I have many friends who didn't see any benefit from that soft.
OP: No chance at HYS with that UG GPA unfortunately. You definitely need to re-take. You won't get into a T-20 with those numbers. Plus, if you were getting scores that much higher, you should not apply to law school till you meet your potential. If anything, it will be larger scholarship/even better school.

Thank you for your advice. I do think I should contrast this with d1 football though. How many d1 football players make it in the NFL? Practically the statistic is zero. In my sport (which is still a popular US sport, just not the big 3 NFL NBA MLB) the statistics are the same to make it from college to professional. For every guy that plays my position, there are hundreds of guys that could be playing for every 1 roster spot that have all been All-American's etc in college. So I do think that the analogy is incorrect. But that is why I am here, getting advice.
Also, I was a rookie in my league this past year. No rookie at my position played a single minute in the league with myself being 1 of 3 rookies at my position in total. So it is just the case that I may be a backup now, but might be a starter soon. That is neither here nor there I think.
If you are talking about NHL, then you are correct. I was assuming you were talking about MLS/Lacrosse or something.
In any case, I agree that this is a way to set yourself apart. But, in any case, I still don't think you should apply with a 159. As I said before, no matter how much these softs help you....they will help you equally with a higher LSAT. So even if you could squeeze into a T20 with your numbers (which I think is very unlikely), imagine what you could get with a 165+ on a retake.
No question that you should retake, and re-evaluate once you get the score from that take.

Yea my bad. I sort of figured he was talking about like MLL or some sport that is more like intramurals than say the NHL. Retake is the right answer probably

Forgive me for any outing of OP, but he is not talking about the NHL. He's given enough info to pinpoint the sport actually (I won't name it for his sake). At least I think he has.
It's a stronger soft, but it might actually require explaining because I imagine a decent number of Adcomms won't know what it is. The reality, as you know, is to retake. At best, it'll give you a little boost, but you could easily cinch it with the solid LSAT performance you're capable of. Don't rely on softs when you can do this yourself and perhaps a great deal more.

I agree with the guy above me. Most adcomm members likely will not know the sport (which has been made obvious) is played professionally in the US. But I still think it's a decent soft.

Dude, this is Patrick fucking Quirk, isn't it? You are one of the best fullbacks in the rugby league, bro, and the Philly Fright is going to beat all its rivals decisively this year.

Hmmm, I still can't guess it. The Rugby guess did give me a good laugh though - he said more impressive than D1 football, so Rugby is out. I thought NHL was a good guess.

Unfortunately, it is not bowling nor rugby.
Doesn't really matter. I did not come here for ego boosting or any superficial purpose. Just wanted to know what my chances were considering some factors and I appreciate the help for everything. I apologize for being vague throughout, it is just natural considering the background.
With the advice, I am taking the December exam and hope to raise the score significantly. If anyone has any specific suggestions-like I hear UVA hasn't filled their pro athlete quota, I would appreciate the love. Either way, thank you for the information. Hope the score goes up and someone has a really really really specific quota to fill.

It really is beyond TLS's expertise, I've been here for 3 cycles and you're the first professional athlete I can remember posting on here.
I bet it'll be a bump but it's impossible to quantify. I would bring the LSAT up as high as possible and if you can't do that in time for this cycle, then take it again next year. Law school isn't going anywhere.
Good luck

It's lacrosse. That much is obvious. I just don't know enough (or anything) about the sport to figure out who he is.
