I think you're golden with that LSAT + URM. GPA is ok. NU is known for splitter leniency. I think you can go higher than NU. However the NU 150k is pretty enticing... Cornell is known to throw a lot of money, you'd probably get in there too. Harvard isn't out of the equation.. I say apply to all the tops, and see what happens. I wouldn't limit myself to the ED for NU with those stats.

Yeah I think ED Northwestern is the correct call. You'd probably get into CCN on down in RD but I don't know if they'd give you enough money to make it worth your while.

I don't know that you have a great shot at HLS, but you do have a shot.

Does H give a boost for applying early? I have a 3.3 now which could be a 3.4 by the end of the semester.
I think early = before Sep/Oct score release. A lot of applications are headed in now that scores are out so I'm not sure if it's going to give you a boost. Better GPA is worth the wait IMO.

Even better, don't apply to Harvard at all! Trust me, I have your best interests at heart.

ETA: I like the NU ED idea.

LOL @ LSATneurotic. Sure living up to the neurotic part of your username. There's plenty of room at H for both of you.

Since LSATneurotic is telling you not to apply to Harvard, I think you can take it as a sure sign that you should send an app.

Thats what im thinking. Harvard seems to be more forgiving for URMs with low lsats rather than low gpas. Im still worried about even getting the urm, some say no, some say once your black it doesnt matter about your residence and Ive seen mixed opinions but did see a international urm get UVa with a 157.
I think you're worried too much about the international thing. You're still black, you still bring the diversity to the class that adcoms are looking for. And even if it does hurt you...That is a part of your app that is beyond your control. Just focus on the stuff you can improve (PS/DS/GPA/LSAT) and try to let the rest go.

If you'd take H acceptance over NU ED I think you should send in grades and bump up the GPA, apply NU and everywhere else RD and see how it all turns out.

I realize that I know absolutely nothing about you, and that this is a joke, but this sort of attitude really bothers me. We are very, very far from the point where schools are turning away qualified Black applicants because there are just so many, and it's not like there are two or three designated spots we're all competing for.

It was a joke, sort of:

Unfortunately, for me and Canadian, the wiggle room is smaller. We both probably have two of the top dozen or so scores for black males, and both of us have a relatively low GPA. As mentioned above, Harvard is more forgiving of a low LSAT than low GPA for URMs. They are only going to reach for so many of us.

Check MyLSN if you don't buy my argument (granted, there are few data).

Chicago and Columbia actually sent waivers to some non URMs with high 160s in the last CRS wave so I wouldn't be sure it's because of your URM status.

I still think you get the boost though. Just not sure this is evidence of that.

For the record, 3.4/169 can definitely get into Harvard.
