3.97, 172

Hi All,

So I'm at a 3.97 (mostly from a several A+s despite an extremely shaky first semester freshman year) and a 172. What are my chances in making HYSCC?

Just as reference, Harvard's 2017 class has the following stats:
GPA 75th / 50th / 25th percentiles: 3.95 / 3.87 / 3.75
LSAT 75th / 50th / 25th percentiles: 175 / 173 / 170

I am under slightly under the 50th percentile in terms of LSAT score but my GPA is higher than the 75th percentile. What are my chances overall for HYSCC?

Thanks

Yes, I'm not sure if this is out of disbelief or outright disapproval (hopefully the former).

what do you expect us to say

your numbers are normal for hys and strong for t6
you haven't brought up anything interesting or out of the norm
just go on mylsn.info

Does attending a top 10 undergrad play a role in making me significantly more competitive? Does being Asian American male help/hurt my chances? Does my strong emphasis on public service (working in a microfinance company in Ghana for two months, and interning at the OAG for NJ) boost my chances? Also, I study sociology, understandably, a slightly easier major than STEM concentrations.

1) significantly? no, unless hyp
2) no help
3) good soft, not a game-changing soft tho
4) hard sci sometimes helps, but non hard sci won't hurt

also why omit nyu
you have a public service background
they give an assload of money to people with pi backgrounds like yours (esp with your numbers)
have you looked into their public service named scholarships

I don't go to HYP. I want to clerk out of law school preferably for the SC or a federal judge. I've been doing research and HYS seems to have the highest rates for sending law grads into these extremely limited openings. I was also heavily considering doing BigLaw for a while because I am currently under an enormous amount of debt only to have it doubled after law school. That being said, I would still lean toward the top 3 and incur the costs rather than pay less (I doubt I will get a full ride to a T6) and just slave away for a few years going corporate after law school.

Look into Indiana Tech School of Law, I think it would be a great fit with an innovative curriculum.

Haha, I'm sorry to offend you but I have a strong interest in winning by significant margins. Despite my numbers, when it comes to YS, their admissions systems are largely opaque.

Then why are you asking questions to people who have no way of knowing about that opaque admissions process.

Don't choose a school based on clerking for the SCOTUS or COA. You probably won't do the latter and definitely won't do the former. Since you haven't given any actual reasons for attending law school, and if you are set on going, go to a school that will give you a good chance of gainful employment with miminum debt.
