Top Law Schools

Hi everyone,

I'm kind of new at this, but I made a list of places where I've applied/intend on applying to. I'm 20, have pretty good softs/WE/resume, hispanic (latin), and from SFL.
**PT'ing in the low 160s right now, will be retaking the LSAT in 9 days.

On the off chance that this isn't a troll, don't apply until you've got a 168+ on the LSAT, and that should REALLY be a 170+.

3.88/170 get's nice scholarships at lower t-14 and prob a 1/3rd of t-6, possibly with some money as well.

Withdraw your apps immediately. 3.88 GPA is going to be wasted on a low 160's. I'm in between classes and should be reading for Torts but I'm sure someone like Brut can/will come along and give you the full rundown of why you're going in severely underinformed and doing yourself a major disservice by applying at all with a 158.

Also, unless you're specifically Mexican or Puerto Rican, you're not going to get an admissions boost.

You should gun for upper 160's at a minimum.

Of course you wouldn't say that, you're the one who applied!

Basically schools only care about GPA/LSAT and your LSAT has likely sunk you at places like Duke. I wouldn't withdraw them, but I would ask that they not consider your application until your LSAT score comes back. Also, I wouldn't apply anywhere else until your score comes back. Also, take it a 3rd time if you don't a crore into the 170s. Lets do everything we can to get you into those T14s with large scholarships.

I'm more worried about you actually doing better on the LSATS and then getting stuck paying sticker at Georgetown after they accept you ED.

Yeah, definitely switch that to regular decision and if they won't let you, then withdraw your application

Georgetown wouldn't offer $$ to ED'ers? I'm not planning to apply to other schools until I receive my September score. I put my ED application with Georgetown on hold (they have that option) until that score comes in.

I made a note on the addendum for Boalt, specifically about waiting to receive this score before they make a decision.

Georgetown barely offers money to RD'ers with great stats.

Then follow BigZuck's advice: say you made a mistake and switch your app to RD. If they don't let you, withdraw your ED app.

I think you very well could be accepted RD with a low 160's LSAT and your stellar GPA. But give yourself the opportunity to decline their offer.

Just spoke with admissions at GULC, they don't mind the switch to RD. Will be shooting them an e-mail now.

On another note, I was also wondering if schools that select you for an interview are more likely to accept you. I know not many schools offer them, but there's still a few out there that do.

In general it's probably a better sign than not getting an interview at all. Although sometimes they do it for people who are borderline candidates.

"Holistic" admissions are for those who are on the cusp of getting in with just slightly under par numbers but who have something going for them that lets them stand out.

Other things that can help are awards like Fulbright, Rhodes, Marshall, Guggenheim.
PHD's/Masters are helpful, though they don't factor in those GPA's.
Same with work experience that is meaningful... like McDonalds not so much, writing for the NYT could be helpful.

Everything I just listed is secondary to LSAT/GPA.
Those two things combined are about 93% of the admissions game.
