You're a splitter so it's tough to call, but that military service is one of the best softs out there.

You won't get NU ED since all ED admits come with a full scholarship which makes competition far more difficult ED than RD. I wouldn't be surprised if you were admitted RD to NU with some money since you have really good softs and LSAT score.

Are you eligible for the GI bill? If you are I would send an app ED to NYU (or maybe Columbia) since you stand a chance of being admitted with your LSAT and your COA would be covered by GI. Otherwise I would send out apps RD and take whichever T14 eventually admits you (or school with the most appealing scholarship if you don't qualify for GI).

Also how did you graduate Summa when your GPA is only 3.3? Aren't latin honors determined by cum GPA?

Chrstgtr, I received latin honors because I took a 4 year break from college. Because of that, most universities in my state have "fresh start" programs for GPA/honor purposes so long as you attempt a given number of credit hours (can't "fresh start" and attempt 3 credit hours at a 4.0 and expect honors; in my case I had to complete at least 40 hours). So OVERALL my career GPA is not worthy of honors, but for the purposes of my degree and career at my second university, 57 credits at 4.0 gave me latin honors.

You should apply to Chicago and down and hope. App fees are small, and hard to predict where you're going to spike.

If you feel you can improve to 173+ on a retake, consider it. It'll help, but maybe not in the hyper-obvious way it does with most applicants, so I'm not going to absolutely suggest you do it.

Based on admittedly weak evidence, I get the sense that Northwestern's admissions policy boils down to: "Do what it takes to have a 170 LSAT median."

You have a 171, so you will get in. You will most likely also be able to negotiate for decent $$.

Your softs are nice and should be discussed and sold in your personal statement, but don't get too cute. This is about numbers.

You're a shoe-in at WUSTL but should aim higher IMO.

If one person without above median LSAT and GPA got the full ride at NU, it would be you. Might be worth it if you're willing to commit to them. Otherwise, I'd guess you probably get in at most of the bottom half of the T14 at least. You'll get a full ride at WUSTL, but you shouldn't take it because you will have good money at FAR better schools.
