Lock everywhere from H down, and probably good for either S or Y. Your stats, AA URM status, and military service probably make you a rare applicant.

You will get in everywhere you apply, and 2/3 of HYS...sorry but their admissions processes are like the NBA draft! They communicate. You could get into all three, but who knows?

Don't ED Columbia unless you're absolutely certain you would go there over HYS or lower T-14 with $$. Focus on writing a good PS and getting good LORs. Probably best to get one LOR from a professor and one from an officer. You're going to kill it. No C&F issues though, right?

With those stats you'd be crazy to ED anywhere even if you were a non diverse applicant. Throw in the URM military combo and you're looking at guaranteed Harvard. I don't know about Yale and Stanford (although you still have a chance with them too) but Harvard is basically a lock. You'll get scholarship money at Columbia and NYU but it sounds like you may have the GI bill anyway--in which case you basically owe it to yourself to attend HLS.

Definitely don't ED. You are looking at full rides everywhere in the T14 (obviously minus HYS which don't give merit-based money). I can't imagine why you wouldn't get into at least 2 of HYS (Yale is especially difficult to predict because they love high GPAs and 3.6 is a little on the low side for them). Make sure to apply early and put together the best app you can (recs, resume, essays, etc.).

I wouldn't be surprised if you're mulling a Ruby vs. HYS come next spring. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Female-URM-military is the holy trio of law school/law employment boosts. Honestly, the sky is the limit for both schools and jobs. If you do relatively well at HYS you could have a SCOTUS clerkship in your sights.

3.7/170 is fine for the T14, generally speaking. There is not really much you can do to separate yourself from other applicants besides improve your numbers. OP ought to be commended though! GL!

I have solid LORs from company and battalion commanders, my only academic LOR would be from my thesis advisor. Would i need any more academic LORs? Also what is a C&F issue? Im pretty sure the answer is now but just to be sure!!

Yeah, I thought my numbers were pretty.. "meh" compared to the IQRs of the schools I wanted to get into. I knew being black URM would give me a little bit of an advantage. But i didn't know military or gender would be significant at all. I was never planning on apply to anything higher ranked than Columbia which I honestly thought would be a stretch, but I did two summer sessions of semesters of undergrad there and am in love with the school. Otherwise I was only going to apply NYU, Cornell, and CU Boulder (for environmental law). Ha. but thanks everyone, Im a bit more confident and will shoot for the stars this cycle.

C&F (Character and Fitness) issues are things like being criminally charged with something more serious than a traffic violation, academic probation, suspension/expulsion from college, or being discharged/dismissed from the military other than by honorable discharge. Ive got an open container charge misdemeanor from like 6 years ago. (Beer bottle outside of a bar- plead guilty and paid a fine).
