3.7 / 170 / URM / Masters in Architecture from HYS

Post by insomniarch » Sat Aug 02, 2014 10:12 am

Hello,

I was wondering what my chances would be for a top tier.

3.7 from a top 5 ranked architecture school. Masters in architecture from a top 5 (Ivy). Representative on the graduate student council. Non AA URM. 170 on my LSAT.

I fell in love with construction/environmental/sustainability law and am considering a career change. (I am just shy of 30) I am considering studying for a few more months and retaking to move up higher in the 170's.

Thank you!

Depends what you mean by top tier, but the 3.7, 170, and URM will give you some serious options.

Data points are small, but you're probably looking pretty good (>50% probability) at most of the T14. If you want HYS though, retake for a 173+ to increase your chances.

Will having my masters from YHS help in applying to law school at these schools, or is my undergrad GPA going to be hard to overcome without a drastic improvement on my LSAT?

Every strong soft will help, but your many of your peers will have similar stuff. It will help keep you competitive. Higher LSAT would do a lot more for you.

Second question...I will be 29-30 when applying. Will this hurt my application at all?
*edit* sorry to clarify- I am looking at hopefully HYS or CCN if possibly.

No, if anything it will probably give you a slight advantage over the k-JD crowd in both law school admissions and during OCI.
