Top Law Schools

Graduated in May, and I am working full time now. I'm considering applying this cycle, with a 170 and 3.94 from a Top 5 school; ideally I would get in to HYSC but if not, I'm considering retaking in the spring (Feb or June 2015 LSAT). Should I go ahead and apply this cycle and see what happens, or should I wait for the next cycle? I'm not going to retake in September because I wont be able to actually prepare given that I work full time and it's just the start of my full time job, but I'm hoping to be able to prepare in time for one of the 2015 tests.

My chances don't seem great with my current stats; the LSAT being a bit low for where I want to go. I'm not in a rush to get into Law School and would only go if I got into HYSC; money wouldn't be a problem, as my parents are generously going to support me.

Yes, those are bad search parameters. Unless you're looking for scarce URM data, an LSAT range should never be anything close to that broad. You get more data points, but you're sweeping in a ton of irrelevant data. Also, the 2011-12 cycle was considerably more competitive than the last two and should be excluded at this point.

Go for it. Applying to only 4 schools wont be too much work. Your current chances are worth at least taking a stab. Also, if you reapply next year with a 172+ and some more work exp., a rejection in a previous cycle won't hurt you all that much.
