3.5X / 177; T14 odds?

Hi all,
I'm entering senior year in Canada and deciding in light of my June LSAT score whether or not it's worth it to apply to any T14 US schools. Non-URM, moderate softs. Any advice would be appreciated!

it's hard to say, because your GPA doesn't "count" in the same way that USA GPAs count. Law schools will see it, and factor it into their decisions, but they don't have to report it to US News for the rankings. I would apply to HYS on down if I were you. You don't have a great chance of getting into YS and to a lesser extent H and C, but you do have a chance, especially off the waitlist.

Applying broadly is key to negotiating scholarship money down the line. Law school in the US costs a lot more than law school in Canada, and unless you have very wealthy parents, the money matters more than the acceptance. You should think carefully about your goals before incurring all that debt, especially if you want to go back to Canada to practice.

You might sneak into Harvard but I agree with other people that UToronto might make more sense depending on career goals.

I had a friend with a 178 and similar GPA (applied last cycle) who is attending Harvard this fall.

So I think you have a good chance. Definitely t-14
