GPA: 3.33 Humanities major
Softs: Nationally ranked debater, worked for a legal non profit during undergrad. Work for a non prestigious consulting firm now ( 2 years of WE after undergrad) while volunteering at a non profit. 1st generation college student.

Your GPA might be below the GPA floors for HYS and thus shut you out. You should still blanket the enitre T14 for scholarship negotiation purposes and the non-zero chance one of HYS wants to brag about how many 180s they have in their incoming class.

As usual Mullens put TCR very succinctly. Congratulations OP and good luck in admissions - it is practically guaranteed you will have several full rides to choose from among strong schools.

I assume averaging scores makes HYS impossible. What do people think about that?

There's some evidence that HYS might not average anymore. Admission there not impossible, but don't count on it. Apply anyway and blanket the T14. Leverage scholarship offers and probably take the best full ride location you can get.

What is the wisdom on NYU and Columbia? Am I in there?
Also, would the 180 help for getting Root-Tilden? Or is it irrelevant once you are accepted?

Play around with this:
I had to widen the ranges due to lack of data points, but it should be fairly accurate.
Scholarships are more of a blackbox but there are probably threads here that describe the process and outcomes for the RTK and other named scholarships.
