Chance Me please

Hi guys, a chance and advice would be nice.
I got a 170 on my LSAT and I have a 3.8 GPA. I was wondering what you peg my chance at for the top 4. I talked to my pre-law advisor about retaking this, since on none of practice tests 60-71 did I ever get such a score, and I really want to chalk it up to a bad test day. Currently, Im signed up to take it again, because I feel like a 170, while a great score, is on the low end for those schools.
Not a URM- Asian Male.

You'll be fine at a top 10. I seriously don't see the point of a retake with a 170 and 3.8. Harvard has admitted plenty of people with lower scores than that. I have friends there with lower stats.
Consider the fact you have to wait another year if you retake at this point and is it worth it. Plus can you guarantee a 180? If not, I highly doubt you can guarantee admissions to the Top 4. People were denied left and right this year with better scores at the Top 4. And yet there were people admitted as well. That's my two cents.

wtf is this shit? why would he have to "guarantee a 180?" he doesn't necessarily have to wait a year either; he can retake june and put a seat deposit down somewhere.

wtf is the shit you're spewing? What kind of law school would take a June LSAT for the fall admissions cycle this year? Unless you plan to go to JFK or something of that shitty nature.

he doesn't need a 180, you can certainly have a very high liklihood of 173+ with enough work. and ya its possible but not likely he gets h with a 170
take the test op, decide based on score if you want to wait until next year

Oh yea definitely doesn't need a 180, but that was just for me to make my point that there's no guarantee that a few points (1-2) on LSAT will get him in to H hence weighing the benefit of the year off. Plus his score will get him into a top 14 school without problem I imagine.
I think OP already took the test and got the 170, right?
The funny thing is two of my friends in real life (not TLS life) actually got into H with a 164 and 168. High GPAs as well, which OP seems to have. Although one of them was a vet. Anyway. Take it for what its worth.

Forget the top 4, you should receive money at a lower T14. You're probably a coin flip or slightly worse @ H since your numbers are hovering between their lower quartile and median. Their incoming classes are so large that they can afford to take ppl below their medians and the numbers will still balance. Not sure about CCN admissions.
You should get decent scholly somewhere in the T14 and/or full rides to Vandy/USC/UCLA/UT I'd go either of those routes. It's tough to offer more advice w/o knowing your financial situation or career goals.

Pato is right, as usual. I am not quite sure what you are talking about.
If you don't want to make the correct decision to retake based on your stats/cycle, there is still no reason to try an dissuade someone else from doing so.
Many schools will consider a June score for the same cycle, including the one I attend, which isn't extremely prefstigious, but is not JFK.
What school do you go to? I seriously find it hard to believe that a school would offer someone admissions with for this Fall's admissions with this June's test. I get you may have submitted your app and had no LSAT on file so they wait for it to be complete but I don't think that's advisable for anyone applying given Rolling Admissions.

we're assuming he's already applied this cycle, bro. you obviously assumed the same thing, or your comment about having to wait until next year makes zero sense.

Oh yea totally. You're right. I'm assuming he's applied this cycle. Otherwise, my comment on next year would be totally useless lol

are you okay?
here i'll spell it out for you very slowly
you apply to schools with the 170
you sign up for the June lsat
you put down a seat deposit at the best school you get into
if you improve in June, you use that score to try to get off waitlists or get more $. or possibly reapply next cycle.

Well...that would've been useful, smh. When are you re-taking? You should wait until October unless you've been absolutely prepping hard for the June LSAT.

Are you okay? Allow me to help you speed your mind along since you seem a smidge thick in the head. You assume that he will be waitlisted and not denied. If he is denied, then what then sherlock? You think you can magic your way out of a denial with a June test score?
How did you even pass the LSAT with such poor logic and assumption?
I hope you're smarter than this if you're at a law school already.

Lol, thanks. And to be fair, you're not wrong to assume he would at least get a waitlist. Although this year's admissions cycle has seen some very odd trends.

Oh, goodness—the irony. Chill out, dude. What does it even mean to "pass" the LSAT, anyway? Also, I think the poor logic in this thread comes right here:

Lol was never angry bro. It's fun to mess around with people and retort back.
It's not poor logic. Those are merely used to make a point. Extreme? Yes. But they served their purpose.

OP, if you're fresh out of undergrad, seeing what your 170 can get you is a viable option. NU ED could yield you a full ride, and other lower T14s will pay you small $ for your numbers. If, however, you are dead set on HYS or want to guarantee better scholly prospects throughout the T14, then you should retake. Chances are you are not getting HYS with your current LSAT score.

3.8 isn't a high GPA for HYS.
