I graduated from a state school with a 3.89; I wrote an undergrad thesis and interned directly for a politician well-known throughout the country. Post-grad, I taught in a Title I school for three years and intend to pursue a career in education law/policy.

I've been seeing a lot of splitters accepted into the University of Texas, but what are my chances as a reverse splitter? (With work experience?)

I'll go ahead and get this very familiar conversation rolling: you should retake the LSAT, especially with your very nice GPA. Even if you don't have a 170 in the tank, the mid-160s would probably get you in to some lower T-14s, not to mention regionals like W&M for free.

Also, I checked your post history, and the schools you applied to are all over the place geographically. Where are you from? Where do you want to work? It's hard to imagine it making sense for the same person to want to go to Seton Hall, Houston, or W&M.

UT in the past hasn't weighed the WE that heavily, but with all of the splitters getting in this year, your chances as a reverse splitter may be increased, especially if they need more high GPAs to keep their medians in place. (This assumes that the anecdotal / self-selective data stuff we've seen here and on LSN is reflective of the process as a whole).

That said, your residency will make a big difference: Texas residency counts for a lot when you have to have a class that's nearly 2/3s Texas residents.

Anyway, FWIW, I don't think you're going to get in to UT. Maybe a WL.

I'd say next to zippy chance at UT (unless you're a URM). I would retake and reapply next year.

And yes, still naive.

There's no such thing as a reverse splitter. Don't waste that GPA on that LSAT.

I understand that you might not want to wait a year, but consider the fact that waiting a year and studying could not only net you an acceptance at a much higher ranked school, but it could net you tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships as well.
