$250 is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, but that does not make it any less of an impractical amount to pay for those for whom it is a significant portion of their monthly income, especially when other app fees are considered.cron1834 wrote:Is an AdComm going to drive to your house and slap you upon rejection (or acceptance/no money)? Actually, that would be awesome. What exactly is the downside in applying? I'm new to this game, but I don't see the problem...
$250 can be a lot of money for some people, but I think most agree it is worth the chance (assuming your numbers give you a shot) of YS and not wondering "what if?" the rest of your life.cron1834 wrote:Is an AdComm going to drive to your house and slap you upon rejection (or acceptance/no money)? A YS admit can be some nice leverage too, for someone very debt-adverse.Winston1984 wrote:$250 can be a lot of money for some people, but I think most agree it is worth the chance (assuming your numbers give you a shot) of YS and not wondering "what if?" the rest of your life.cron1834 wrote:Is an AdComm going to drive to your house and slap you upon rejection (or acceptance/no money)? I didn't even think about that. Good point.scoobers wrote:A YS admit can be some nice leverage too, for someone very debt-adverse.Winston1984 wrote:$250 can be a lot of money for some people, but I think most agree it is worth the chance (assuming your numbers give you a shot) of YS and not wondering "what if?" the rest of your life.cron1834 wrote:Is an AdComm going to drive to your house and slap you upon rejection (or acceptance/no money)? This isn't a sensical comparison. You can get better loans for the $250k than for the $250. Plus, applying to law school doesn't mean you're willing to pay sticker to go to law school.cron1834 wrote:If you can't swing $250, then you shouldn't think about swinging $250k. The risk/reward is good with these applicant stats.
If one has competitive numbers/softs for Yale and can't afford to apply, he/she should take out a personal loan or put the app fee on a credit card.midwest17 wrote:This isn't a sensical comparison.
