This is a somewhat confusing post. Id come back when you actually hit 173+ and tls can chance you at top schools.

Right now you'd just be throwing away your cash.

It's uncertain whether or not the top few law adcoms still really look at multiple scores, but I believe at YS especially it would make a difference whether you are cancel/160/172 or just 172 because their small class size permits a granular approach. CLS stopped considering multiple scores a couple years ago, and while HLS still says they do, there is evidence to the contrary from successful retakers (you might get asked about a retake in JS1 or smthing).

I guess the question OP is asking is whether there is a difference between cancel-cancel-173 and cancel-160-173. S/he already has a cancel and is considering canceling their December score as well (expecting a 160).

I don't know how YS looks at cancels vs. low scores.

What's most important is actually getting that hypothetical 173+.
