Top Law Schools

I'm applying in the 2014-2015 cycle so this is a little preemptive, but I need to decide soon if I should retake. I'm a little concerned about $$ because I want to work in public interest/ state govmt (aka will not be making the big law bucks to repay loans).

Before I took the October LSAT, I was consistently PTing at 173-175. I'm wondering if I should take the test again to raise my score by a few points so I have a better chance at scholarship money at T-14 schools.

Also NYU is one of my top choices, and I feel like if I got my score up to a 173 I'd have a better chance of getting in- am I correct in thinking this?

(edit: obviously I know I'd have a better chance of getting in if I had a 173. I guess my question is do I NEED that 173 to get in as opposed to my current 171)

since you aren't applying until next cycle, I would retake just to hit your PT averages

thanks Scoobers! I should've added that my only concern w/ retaking is that I have not studied (nor even looked at an LSAT book) since the Oct 5th test, and the only time it would make sense for me to take the test again at this point would be Feb '14. Do people think this poses a problem?

I took the test in October as well and hadn't looked at LSAT material since this week. Reading and LR haven't really been affected. I've lost some speed on the logic games but I'm not too concerned, just a bit rusty. Prepping for the Feb LSAT, fyi.

Why not June, if you're not applying until next cycle?

midwest 17: I am graduating in May and then most likely going on a service trip for a month.

You are almost definitely in at NYU as it is, but if you arent applying till 2014, certainly worth retaking just to see if you can improve.

Ok. If you don't hit your target in February, though, definitely take again in October. You can still get applications in plenty early with an October score.
