3.7/171, chances at CCN?

Hey all, just got a 171 on the October LSAT. It was a little below my PT range, but oh well, I'm still happy.
I have a 3.7 GPA from a top liberal arts college. I wrote an Honors Thesis in Political Science and and also received an award for the best essay in political theory during my time there (not sure if these help).
I have 2+ years of work experience
My top choices are: Columbia, NYU, Chicago, Penn, and UVA. I've heard this is a "good" cycle to be applying in, so I'm hoping I can get admitted to at least one of those!
I'm fortunate enough that money is not really an issue.

Ha, thanks. Would it be worth it to apply ED to Columbia?

Is this a numbers thing or just a "it won't help" thing?

It won't help and you'll be throwing away a lot of money.

Exactly. Apply rd to all three. You'll almost certainly get NYU and you may get money. Plus you stand to get significant money from the lower T14.

Thanks. I feel like I'm going to end up at UVA or NYU, but Columbia or Chicago would be nice. I'm hoping my work experience (intelligence community) and other factors (thesis, essay prize in college, etc.) can help put me over the hump.

Those things are nice, and will certainly be appreciated by employers at OCI. However they will not help at all during the admissions process. You may get Columbia depending on how this cycle turns out, but as it stands you are in a great position.
