Dont be too discouraged. Your softs are fine, they wont have much of an impact regardless.
171/3.6 will get you into a lot of good schools, some with money. You'll probably be choosing between Penn or NYU with $30Kish, or Lower T14 with $75-90K

Thanks for the response. I needed some encouragement. Does anyone think retaking is worth it, particularly if I'm gunning for H? I was talking to a friend who suggested submitting my apps next week for all non-HYS schools (which was the plan originally), then retaking in December and submitting apps to HYS. Any thoughts as to whether this is a good idea?

For Harvard, submitting late will hurt. For Yale and Stanford it matters less, but your GPA precludes you from consideration there anyway.Iroh wrote:Thanks for the response. I would apply to all schools ASAP except Yale. What are your PTs? I would only retake again if you are seriously PTing (timed) at 176+ every time.
3.6 is on the low end for Harvard even for a mex URM. I see a lot of people asking about their chances there - you should not anticipate being admitted (sorry for the tough love) but there are other schools more lenient on GPA that provide very comparable opportunities, so its not like law school won't work out.

I apologize for bumping this, but I wonder what people think about my chances at Berkeley? As a CA resident, I would probably take Boalt over Penn or NYU, all else equal.

Boalt isn't fond of 3.6 GPA's, but as a URM, it isn't impossible. Stress diversity and interest in either IP work or a substantial public interest connection.Iroh wrote:I apologize for bumping this, but I wonder what people think about my chances at Berkeley? Definitely hit Michigan (they love to match/exceed UMich schollies), Duke, UPenn, ect. (berkeley peers) for scholarship. Berkeley will match scholarships but rarely, if ever, entertain them on their own.
