I'm thinking of ed. Which t14 schools can I maximize my chances for ed? Also what other schools do I have a shot at?

Four measly points takes you from probably getting into a couple lower T14 with tiny schollys to choosing between CCN and big $$ from lower T14.

Even two points will make a huge difference.

Why can't people on this forum answer people's ACTUAL questions....

Obviously he knows he could retake, but that wasn't his question, and its really frustrating to have 30 people tell OP to retake the test and no one to help him deal with his current situation.

Cornell ED would probably work though if I had to bet.

To be fair, he is asking questions that mylsn.info generally answers as well as any TLSer might.

True... But I also think anyone that knows what this website is knows that if you tell TLS you have under a 170 you're gonna get bombarded with "retake" posts. Also, his question is about ED's which, while the info is still relatively abundant, warrants some more conversation.

The very first chart posted should answer OPs question as to his general chances at 167. Subsequent charts demonstrate the substantial possible returns to retaking.

ED provides minimal to no boost and can lock you into sticker. Wouldn't recommend it except in particular situations (such as ED Northwestern for full-ride).

WTF? Not to derail this thread but these are top 14 numbers now? WTF. Three years ago he would have been Fordham material.

The general wisdom the last few years has been to steer away from EDs. When I was a 0L, the boilerplate reply was "retake; ED UVA".

Law school applications and class sizes are on the decline, which means schools are arguably hungrier for higher LSAT scores. Employment transparency is increasingly displaying the risk of law school at full price. Combine those two with the relatively low success of getting scholarships or tuition reduction with an ED application, and you are looking at paying a lot for potentially grim chances at the kind of employment that could repay that debt when a retake could get you into a better position for scholarship talks.

Retake is such a popular thing to say because if OP is willing to hit the books and take it again, he could get the same sorts of schools as an ED, but with a better chance at a brighter outcome.
