177 LSAT, 2.73 LSAC GPA.. T-14 chances

Post by withoutapaddle » Thu Oct 03, 2013 3:38 pm

So I've decided to get one more year of work experience before I apply. I think this would give me a tiny boost to make up for my mediocre GPA.

My stats are:

LSAT: 174
GPA: 2.73 (Economics major, 2.86 overall, 3.33 major GPA).. Prob doesn't make much difference anyway.
Work experience : 2 years work exeprience in a fortune 500 bank (analyst). Will have three years when I apply.

Softs:
Started a charity that raises donations and awareness for foster children that are in abusive homes and age out of the system.
Board member of a non-profit that plans events for other local non-profits (We donated $9,000.00 to charity this past week from a September event)
Mentor at a low income school. Basically twice a week I mentor a 5th grader in Math and Reading.
Eagle Scout
Member of a fraternity.. Yes we partied, but we also did a lot of community service.
First generation college student.

The schools I'm looking at:

Cornell Ed
Penn
Georgetown
Virginia
Northwestern
Duke (I'm from NC)

Any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance

Just realized I had a typo in the title. My LSAT is 174, I can't change it on the thread title.

Umm NO! Has a decent chance at G-town, and UVA (UVA depending on the cycle)

Have you looked at some of the admits for G-town from previous cycle?

172-2.6

GULC Yes, UVA pretty unlikely without ED

Should I use the ED on Georgetown instead of Cornell?

Cornell doesn't have binding ED.

It's new this year. We will have to see what kind of boost it provides.

ED UVA and apply to NU RD. That's about all you can do IMO. I wouldn't go to GULC at sticker but if you would then go ahead and throw them an app.

I would probably save my money by not applying to those other schools but YOLO so do it if you want

So no shot at Cornell? Even with ED.

No one knows exactly, this is the first year of the program. Rd is said to have a gpa floor, which you are below. Seriously nu is your best shot at top fourteen

Cornell doesn't seem to be as LSAT obsessed as most other T14s (I'm guessing they could have higher than a 167 median if they wanted to) so I doubt they will dip a whole lot under their gpa floor.

What are some of the top firms that recruit from Northwestern?

I think I'm going to ED Virginia, than Georgetown, and RD Northwestern

I'm also going to throw hail marry's to UPENN and Cornell.

I'm prob out at Vanderbilt as well due to the GPA right?

I wish I could take a mulligan on my undergrad years right about now.

If your posting asking about top firms, you're better off at nu than gulc.

Any chance at Chapel Hill? Would it be worth it, getting in state tuition?
