3.3/153 (practice test)

I am a political science major at the University of Missouri (Mizzou). I will graduate will minors in business administration and psychology, as well as a certificate in multicultural studies. I have been a part of two campus organizations and have held many leadership positions.

My top choices are Mizzou and Saint Louis.
I am also looking at SIU and UMKC.

What are my odds and where else should I be looking?

Thanks, and I typed this on my phone so sorry if it is sloppy.

When are you scheduled to take the real thing? Try to get it up to a 166 and you should be good for WUSTL.

What do you think your GPA will be at by graduation?

My GPA will probably stay about the same. Maybe rise just a little.
I take the test Saturday (the 5th).

I'm not super interested in WashU - too pricey. Do you think I could get into Mizzou/SLU as is?

Wustl wouldn't be too pricey if you hit 166+

You need to hit mizzou's median to have a decent shot.

You have an ok shot at SLU. But dont go to SLU. My brother in law went there and couldnt find a legal job for years. He was in the top 10% and on law review.

With a 153/3.3 you'll be way over paying everywhere.

Probably, but the debt isnt worth it if you cant find a job.
Last year WUSTL threw full schollys at 166s. Obviously that cant be guaranteed for the future, but its worth trying for.

See, my dad is a practicing attorney in St. Louis (SLU Law alum) and he seems to think that both Mizzou or SLU would be fine so long as I want to work in St. Louis.

Boomer attorneys are generally very out of touch with the entry level market

Even if this is true, get a 165+ so you at least can get a big scholarship

How have you prepped for the LSAT?

Mizzou has decent regional placement.

SLU is not a good bet. 19% not employeed full time. 25% in temporary postions or unemployed. 70% stated out at less than 60k. 40% were not employed in legit legal jobs....

Neither school is worth anything close to full tuition, which is what you would be paying unless you get above their LSAT medians...

Hypothetically, if job placement were not an issue, what are some schools, preferably in the Midwest, that are realistic with my current GPA/LSAT.

So youre saying you can definitely work at your dads firm?

Is cost of attendance an issue?

When are you taking the lsat?

If you have a guaranteed job lined up and absolutely can't/won't improve that LSAT, then Mizzou w/ in-state tuition is probably the best bet.

+1

You'll probably need to hit median to get in though

Yeah I just realized that actually 3.3/153 probably will land you a WL there, in which case UMKC is probably the next cheapest nearby option. But really these are all pretty bad hypos.
