Check this out.

And don't retake a 176. You're well above every school's median already.

1) Those GPAs from your first two semesters aren't that bad especially for a freshman. Don't include them in your addendum. Lots of people go off to college and struggle at the beginning. Since you're writing an addendum anyway, just say that during your freshman year you got stomach cancer which eventually caused you to have to take 10 W's. That will suffice, and since you did so well after returning adcomms will probably figure out that the cancer impacted your first year performance. But again, those first year grades weren't that bad and your second semester (when the cancer presumably was worse) was better than the first, so don't spend time trying to explain those grades away.

2) Your undergrad is fine. Most people at the top school where you'll end up didn't go to Ivys.

3) Wood bank sounds interesting.

4) You will get lots of scholarship money from highly ranked schools. Check out mylsn.info.

Am I missing something? This guy/gal strikes me as being strong HYS material. OP -- unless I'm confused about something, if you work hard on your personal statement and craft a compelling story, your stats and background are definitely strong enough for HYS.

I think you have a decent shot at HYS, and in at everything below

He has some chance at H but very little at YS. Certainly worth applying to all three though, and things obviously look really good beyond those three.

+1
Good point and additionally, don't doubt yourself. Your statistics are remarkable. Show confidence throughout your application by writing a personal statement that shows the magnitude of your achievements and your struggle with adversity. You are unique, so prove it.

OP -- if you'd like help with a polished draft of your PS, PM me and I'd be happy to help. You should be shooting for HYS and have a strong realistic shot at a T6 school (and I'd be shocked if you didn't get into a T14, assuming you haven't left out any potentially negative details in this thread).

It's a 3.75 GPA, but how will LSAC calculate the LSGPA?

A counselor at my school insinuated that no school in the top 25 would let me in.
Don't ever listen to anything those people say, ever.

I wonder how many people's lives have been ruined by their terrible fucking advice. It's truly astounding how incompetent the vast majority of them are.

OP STFU!! YOu know just as much as we do that you need to write an addendum for the W's. The good news is that you just wrote it while tryin to explain it to us.

That counselor should be horsewhipped without mercy. Pre-law advisors are some of the most useless human beings on the planet. Cease all communication with that idiot.

In general, Ws don't have much impact on law school admissions. They will have no impact at all for you, given the extraordinary circumstances. And your softs are just fine. I think it's pretty incredible that you've accomplished what you have despite suffering such a serious illness, and I think just about everyone who reads your app will feel the same way.

You're aiming for YHS. I think you have a strong shot at Harvard -- better than the myLSN stats indicate. Yale and Stanford would normally be very unlikely with a sub-3.8 GPA, but you have as a good of a chance as anyone to be one of the rare exceptions to that rule. You're all but a lock for CCN, and you should get good money from at least one of them.

This goes for me as well.

I had very similar numbers: 3.75/177 on a retake, and several W's in undergrad. I was WL at Y, out at S, in at H (where I go now), and in everywhere else. You have a more compelling background and story than I did. I'll be surprised if you don't get H, and I think you're a lock at CCN down.

I'd also be happy to help with a PS. Good luck!

Edited for spelling.

This smells like flame, but if not I don't know if I'd even bother to write an addendum. Smacks of, I don't know, false modesty or lack of self-awareness or something? Your numbers are obviously T-14 worthy. But cancer is legit, they can't ding you for writing about cancer. It's not the typical "my best friend died" bullshit.

Wrong.

OP, apply from Y on down.

OP had CANCER. His chances at YS are better than his numbers would suggest.
