Delay the LSAT until you can get a 168+ (preferably 172 or higher).

The LSAT is a learnable test. You aren't too unintelligent, it isn't too hard, you just need to study harder. Delay law school for a year and just study if that's what it takes.

The employment prospects at schools you're eligible for is negligible compared to employment prospects at Yale, Harvard, or Stanford (all of which you have a shot at if you improve your LSAT). This will also open up full rides at schools you don't even have a chance at getting into currently.


Once again, even if it takes you an entire year to improve your LSAT, just think about how 12 points could put you at a full ride (effectively making you 200k that year because you will be avoiding debt) at schools you could barely get into now.


Lots of people may say that TLS goes overboard on calling for "retakes," but do NOT waste that GPA on a 160. Your grades show you're smarter than that.

Also, be careful about putting so much personal information in the OP, you're outing yourself.

This exactly. You will come to learn that all of the impressive things you've done that aren't LSAT/GPA will only help you at the margins in law school admissions. Unfortunately for many, this process tends to be almost entirely numbers-based. All of your extracurriculars and softs probably aren't worth as much as a single extra point on the LSAT. You should pretty much focus entirely on getting the best LSAT score you possibly can. Think about how hard you worked to earn that excellent GPA for 4 years, and then realize that the LSAT is worth JUST AS MUCH if not more in law school admissions.

If you're that giddy about applying next cycle, study until October and apply immediately after you get your score. It won't be too late. Study your ass off this summer.


But DO NOT take the LSAT if you're scoring an avg of 160 on practice tests. I improved ~ 14 points just by studying from May to October. You should do the same.

Seriously. You admit to not studying as much as you could have-- do you really want to begin half-assing your career as a lawyer already? Get rid of your angst/immaturity and study for the next 5 months.

+1. You're in a very beneficial position to have a 3.9 GPA, OP... don't take the LSAT until you're consistently PTing in the low 170s. Be aware that a 3.9/170+ combo will put you in the running for HYS.

Maybe OP was thinking that if (s)he posted a huge list of "softs," we wouldn't bother looking through them all and assume they were legit.

This is definitely not the way to think about the test. The money is already gone no matter what you do, and it's not any more well-spent if you take the most important test of your life without adequate preparation than it is if you just cancel your registration. To the contrary.

Two months of low-intensity studying is not nearly enough for the vast majority of people to reach their full potential. Take the LSAT after you've properly prepared. October gives you plenty of time. Cut back on or wind down your other time commitments; all of your ECs together are not worth even one additional point on the LSAT. (And leave NSCS and Golden Key off of your résumé. PBK is the only one that matters at all.)

I've got a wonderfully easy solution for your problems, OP:

Step 1: Go to LSAC.org and cancel your registration for the June LSAT.
Step 2: Register for the October LSAT.

Seems like it would solve everything. Don't take the LSAT if you've got a 3.9 and you're going to score under 170. Heaven knows I did and regretted it afterward.
