Don't go to Hawaii.

No one with your number has bothered applying to hawaii as a URM. With that said, I could only imagine you are an autoadmit, but from what I have heard, Hawaii does not give out money (and what they do give out doesn't justify going with the outrageous COL there). You have solid shots at the T14, and are pretty much guarenteed to snag a T20. Don't go to Hawaii.

To answer your question, your chances of acceptance and a scholarship are obviously going to be very high at Hawaii. But with that 164/3.4 and your AA URM status, you should be aiming a LOT higher than U of H.

Seriously? Even if this guy's from Hawaii and that's the only place in the world he wants to work?

I still wouldn't go. Unless they give him a full ride or enough money to make it cheaper than a T14. If he already has ties to Hawaii, then I think getting the T14 degree can only help. With regards to scholarship, I don't know how generous they are, but from what I have heard from people who have gotten in, they don't tend to charge less than in-state tuition.

Seriously. Do you know how much Hawaii gives out for its maximum grant?

Not familiar with what the term "COL" means if you could please elaborate. I dream of living there and have an interest in environmental law. From what I have heard they have a good program in that department. If anyone has anymore knowledge or experience with regards to the school please let me know. Is there any shot at a scholarship there or some money? Are they really that dingy with money?
