Lsat 150 Gpa 2.91
Puerto Rican male in NYC worked as Police Officer for past 8 years. I'm looking to retire early at 10 years and head down to Florida to pick up my second career.
I am currently in a Masters Degree program for Public Administration. I am looking to finish that program and plan on retaking the Lsat, probably next year. But I am looking to get a scholarship of some sort from Stetson University in Tampa.
it is not a great school, but for the employment I want in Florida it seems worth it.
I have to go part time, and looking to work for the city DA office or a federal prosecutor.
1. What Lsat score would I need to land some money for Stetson?
2. Anybody an alumni?
3. Anybody know of better part time programs in Florida?
Thanks

I don't mean to be harsh, but that LSAT/GPA combo is pretty bad. Even if you could get in, you'd be looking at massive debt and very questionable job prospects. You may get a little bit of help from having previous WE, but your best bet is to retake the LSAT to make this investment worth it.

+1. Retake or don't go to law school. The schools you'll get into with that LSAT/GPA combo aren't going to make your investment worth it.

Hey man, I realize this all sounds crazy right now so I thought I will give you two important facts:
47% of Stetson graduates don't have long term legal jobs 9 months after graduation. The average student has 214,000 dollars in debt. Crazy but true.
The single most important piece of your application is the LSAT. Schools would take someone that you've arrested for possession with the exact same GPA as you over you every single time if their LSAT was a 165. Crazy, absurd, but true.

You should just keep being a cop, seriously. Whether that is in Florida or New York is up to you, but that is what you should do with your current numbers.
If you are really dead set on law school, you need to retake and score much, much higher for any school that is worth it (FSU/UF at a minimum for Florida).

Do you have a 150 now? I am confused because you said you have a 150 but then you asked what score you should shoot for. Anyway, everyone who is saying to stay with policing is right. The legal market is abysmal right now. There are about 25,000 (seriously 25,000) c/o 2012 grads with over 100K in debt and no legal job who would kill for the police job you have with stability and nice retirement benefits.

This is the sticker price over 3 years, not the avg debt of graduates.
To OP, if you get a score in the mid 160s you'll get a decent scholly.

Thanks, my fault. Point remains no a good idea with current LSAT score.

Ya I wouldn't advise going to Stetson unless it's with a full scholly and you really don't wanna leave the Tampa area, and even then...
