Why can't you retake? With that gpa, you owe it to yourself to retake.

Reason you can't retake?
Are you an unrepresented minority? (ie african american, mexican american or native american?)
If not URM bad chances at all (<40%) and no money

The only logical advice someone can tell you is to retake. If you want to know your chances use the links atcushman provided, find similar people/stats on LSN. Maybe you'll get in @ UChicago and it wont matter but if you don't get in there, I'd really retake if you can. It would be worth it in the end. Good luck!

In/WL at Penn and paying close to sticker
In/ WL at UVA and paying sticker
Out at Chicago
Small chance at Berkeley but I would guess out.

Retake or pay sticker at one of these schools.

Even if it is a financial concern, retaking is still the best option. Just a few more points, which you can definitely achieve over the next five months of studying, will net you way more money at a great school than it cost you to live for the next ~8 months.

Otherwise, pay sticker at one of these and pray for biglaw.

I've often wondered why the people who refuse to retake and have been around TLS long enough to put that in their original post don't just say they've already taken it 3 times.

Yep. The answer to every chances thread is "retake" unless the question is "What do I do after three tries?"

In which case the answer is, "wait six months and take it again."

What? No. If you are gonna chance people do better.

Yeah I know but if you look at this cycle so far / last cycle it looks better for OP's chances

http://myLSN.info/nq4isl

Also, even looking at what you posted, nothing I said is wrong. Still WL with a chance of In at UVA, same with Penn, Out at Chicago and Out at Berkeley but its 50/50 of In/WL vs Out hence a small chance.

What part of that do you disagree with?

Just don't use LSP. It's worthless. It will lead you to think you have a ~50% chance of admission to Stanford when your chances are in fact essentially nil.

Use LSN and myLSN.

I'm not retaking because I only have marginal interest in law. On the offchance I get no-offered by my firm this summer, I was looking into contingency plans (i.e. law school, masters programs).

Law school is a terrible "contingency plan." If you only have marginal interest in law and are not completely clear on whether or not you want to practice law, going to law school would probably be a very bad idea. You would likely perform poorly and find yourself on a portion of the curve that would essentially guarantee rather dire employment prospects.

If you ultimately insist on going anyway, a marginal interest in law is all the more reason to retake. Get a score that opens up YHS. At least at these schools (at Y above all, and at S more than H), you could generally coast through despite disinterest in -- or even hostility toward -- the subject matter, and yet still land a high-paying job. After the first (ungraded) semester at YLS, for instance, you could essentially avoid taking all but one other doctrinal ("black letter") class during the rest of your remaining 2.5 years. Half of the courses offered here are more humanities and social science than law. Alternatively, earn a score that will get you a free ride somewhere in the T14. At least that way, regardless of the outcome, you won't have shackled yourself to a life-transforming amount of debt.
