Do rankings always matter? Or does it not matter once you are out of the T14 or T20? does attending a school ranked 40th give you an advantage over a school ranked 70th?

Rankings matter a little, but remember that outside the T14 (and even within the T14) schools are regional and a local school in the region you want to practice in is preferable over a higher ranked school in a different region.
So, for example, Washington & Lee is ranked 24 while University of Wyoming is unranked, but if you want to work in Wyoming, you should choose to go there over W&L.
On the other hand, if you're talking about a region with multiple law schools, like Atlanta, rankings matter with respect to the schools in Georgia, and Emory (24) is preferable to Georgia State (58), which trumps John Marshall (unranked)
Put simply, go to the best ranked school in the region you want to practice in, unless you get into a T14 (here rankings matter more than region)

Thanks! Definitly agree with this from what I have learned so far.
