Shot at a T14?
I'm looking toward U Chic, U Mich, Northwestern, and really any of the other T14 schools. Do I have a shot?
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
(Does the undergraduate school matter??)
GPA: 3.91
LSAT: 167
PS - Do extra minors or a double major make a large difference in admissions? What about EC's?
Thanks

I would estimate...
Youll prob get one of MVP
Pretty good shot at NU and GULC.
Almost a lock at Cornell and below.

If you think you can do better on the LSAT you should probably retake.
As is, I would guess you get into one or two schools, with little or no money.

Re: Shot at a T14?
Apply now, plan to retake in June if not happy. 2 point secures chi and Columbia I believe (check lsn).
Eta:disregard I thought OP had 170 and was thus refering to a 2 PT increase to 172

Re: Shot at a T14?
I got in to Duke and Cornell with worse stats (along with schools below 14 obviously). I'm confident you'll get some bites. But of course, retake.

I think you'll find that your numbers twins from past years who did not re-take wish they did, for the $$$.

Vanderbilt (RD)
I probably would have gotten into a few more of the lower T14 if I had waited a little longer before withdrawing my applications. I don't think your chances are that great if you are just now applying, though.... you should have applied in September (or October/November at the latest). Sit out a year, retake, and then apply next cycle.

Is it really that late in the cycle that applying with these numbers is not likely to get T14 bites?Regulus wrote:166 / 3.92, I applied early and got into the following schools this cycle:

Based on LSN....
Chance of admission is pretty much significantly less likely across the board

Re: Shot at a T14?
You should absolutely retake if you think that you can squeeze another 2-3 points out of your LSAT score. A lot of T14 schools have 169 as their LSAT median and they're inherently disinclined to take someone below that median unless you bring something really interesting to the table as an applicant. If you can get above 169 with your 3.91, you'd be guaranteed a spot in one of the top 6 schools, and would have a good shot at the top three.
As it looks right now, you have a low chance at Chicago (20%), good chance at Michigan (55%), and great chance at Northwestern (72%).
You should also consider applying to NYU, Berkeley, Penn, and UVA.
