a) Being Canadian won't matter
b) The are basically no jobs in those fields on the legal side. So no, I wouldn't go to a T14 at sticker if that's what you're hoping to get out of it

I can't say for sure what T14 at sticker is like, as I'm in the same position as you are. Realistically, there are two schools of thought on the whole matter.
(1) They are going to protect their medians as best they can, regardless of softs or any other mitigating factor, particularly in the lower T14
(2) It's a whole new world with the dramatic drop in applications, where normally people would be shut out, they might have a shot at these schools
In the end, all you can do is roll the dice, see where you land (based on your Dec. '12 scores) and hope that you snag a spot among the rarified air of those still mostly immune to employment black holes (read: HYS)

Your military experience and other softs are going to make this cycle hard to predict (in a good way). I would guess you're going to outperform your numbers both in acceptances and in $, but your situation is rare enough that it's hard to predict how.
Also, insert joke about Canadian military.

"We have a military?

What military? A rowboat with a hockey stick and a Newfie dog hardly constitutes a military

"
Actual quote from a Canadian citizen.
My response: "I'm actually dressed like this because of the zombie Apocalypse which began yesterday. Toronto's actually been taken over. I figure that if I look like a tree, the zombies won't notice me"
Citizen: "Really?!? OMG!"
Me: "Sigh......."

ps, Would switching my RD at UVA to ED be a good call in this situation?

I would say no... like I said, you're probably going to way outperform your numbers, but it's hard to tell how much. I think 170+ on the December test and you should blanket the T14 from CCN on down, and if you're feeling frisky throw one at HS. You may want to check the military vets thread in the Admissions forum, but military experience is a kickass soft, and it sounds like your military experience is pretty unique even as far as that goes. I think EDing anywhere except for Northwestern would have been a mistake.
