4.0/162 Lower T14

Hi can someone tell me how I would fit in to any of the t14-t20 schools as my current stats stand. I received an application fee waiver from UCLA, so does that mean my chances would be good there despite the low LSAT. I hate being a reverse splitter, damned nerves.

4.0 GPA
162 LSAT (Plan on retaking)
President of Club
Captain of NCAA Varsity Water Polo team
Schreyer Honors College
Extensive undergraduate research
Not much relevant work experience.
Non URM

Please and Thanks!!

If you get a 165, you may have a chance at top14

If you hate being a reverse splitter stop being one. I was a relatively reverse splitter and if I were you I wouldn't even apply until you get a 168 or so. 170 or 171 or 172 and life will be really good. High GPAs and high LSAT people get great scholarship money. Get a 170 and you could probably snag a near full ride to a T14. That should be good motivation. If you study for 6 months and can't hit 170 you should at least be about to get a full ride at a T30 with a 168. The job prospects will be worse for sure, but it won't cost you much.

Just saw the post before mine. The goal shouldn't be getting into a T14 for you. It should be about scholarship cash.

I agree 100% with Tom Joad. Even with a 168-170 you're T14 secure. With a 170+ you're looking at full ride schollies to the lower T14 (definitely a $150,000 scholly at NU if you apply ED) and an outside shot to S/H.

what was your PT average before testing?

I thought you were going to encourage me to lower my GPA. Haha

Thanks, yeah I probably won't apply until after my Oct. LSAT, I am just anxious about not getting my app in early enough during the cycle. I guess that would be moot if I end up with a high LSAT.

I was PTing around 169-172. That was just with 1 month of intense self-study. This time around I decided to take the Velocity course, which hasn't really helped a whole lot but has at least allowed me to stay focused on the test.

Retake and score a 165 plus, and you should be in the lower T14. Aim higher though.

Okay yeah you should definitely be able to get a higher score. If I were you I wouldn't ever settle for anything under a 173, not with that awesome GPA of yours! (: How did you study the first time around? Have you done the PS Bibles yet? If not, I highly recommend them, they helped me a lot when I was studying.

I self studied for about a month. I did the bibles but finished them in about 2 days so I don't think they helped me very much as I sort of just blew through them. I felt too rushed to learn all of the info. Instead, I decided to take about two practice tests a day for about three weeks. I burnt out pretty bad haha oops :/

Awesome to know, thanks guys/girls!! So I assume applying ED at UVA would give them no incentive to give me any $, huh. Bummer.

Feeling good for the October LSAT, only 18 days!!
