Below GPA medians (and most 25%): marginal effect?

So I know being below a schools GPA median is not a place you want to be. Unfortunately I am there (with a bunch of other TLS splitters out there). My question is: once you are below their median, how much does the application committee weight your GPA. I have a 3.2 with a 170 LSAT? Clearly below everyone's GPA medium but a fairly competitive LSAT score. Basically I am wondering if the difference between a person with a 3.2 and a person with a 3.4 GPA, each with the same LSAT, is such that the 3.4 applicant is accepted over the 3.2 applicant every time.

Side info:
I am re-taking in October to try an compensate for my GPA. My apps are out with an ED to Upenn (see my other posts for other schools I am applying to.)

Probably matters to an extent...obviously a 3.2 is different than a 2.5

EDIT: Difference between 3.2 and 3.4 probably wouldn't matter that much if both are below 25%. Softs matter in that case, I would imagine.

Yeah but speaking strictly of those above 3.0 and below median. Yeah I don't see why they would care so much once you are below the 25% (assuming schools only care about numbers). Any thoughts on between 25% and 50%?

Samara's splitter thread is always helpful. What really matters is the GPA floor. The drop in apps might have softened these floors up a bit since Samara wrote the piece but it should be a pretty good guide.

I predict, in our new low-app volume environment, that softs will matter almost not at all.
