3.6 / 170; ED UPenn and other Law Schools

Hey,

I've read this forum a lot but am posting here for the first time. I go to a top 40 school have a triple major with a minor (Bio/Marine Science/History and minor in Chem) so I have that going for me. I also have extensive work experience in both research and manual labor jobs through my time in undergrad (Three and two different jobs, respectively). The caveat is that I was in disciplinary trouble junior year of undergraduate and was suspended as a result of a minor arrest (Misdemeanor, under $200) which was later dismissed by the judge. Of course I am going to have to claim both the arrest and suspension on my record, and some schools like Columbia require a dean's letter which will detail the situation in full. Given both record and soft factors, as well as the fact that both my GPA and LSAT are at the lower range, does it make sense for me to apply ED to UPenn? Would I do better using ED with a lower ranked school (even though I actually want to go to Penn)? Also, how will my bad record fare with schools like Cornell and Columbia which require dean's letters? Will my chances be significantly lower due to the suspension?

Thanks for the advice

I would guess out at Columbia with your numbers since you're below both medians.

You should have a shot at Penn ED, very likely in at UVA. I don't think I would ED below Penn. 170s are likely to be in short supply this cycle, seems to be the way it's shaping up so far.

sending you a pm about Cornell --

I'm curious to hear what you have to say about Cornell. Mind sending me the PM

So should I understnd that the high LSAT and triple major effectively mitigates my disciplinary record?

Schools tend not to care much, honestly.

And to clarify, I think he means out of these three things, schools only tend to care about your LSAT score.

Schools care about these things a lot more at the margins, especially Penn.
