Not impossible, but VERY unlikely. You'll probably get deferred.

I was under the impression OP has a reasonable shot?

It's possible but I think the GPA is a bit low. From a personal standpoint I didn't get Columbia ED with a 172/3.8, but then again I had absolutely no softs or WE.Br3v wrote:I was under the impression OP has a reasonable shot?

Seems to me OP would have a reasonable shot. GPA is a bit low, but LSAT isn't that far off. Plus, who knows what the new medians are going to look like.

What if he has 172 instead of 171?
Does he now have a decent shot at CLS ED?

TBF most people with my numbers get into Columbia and a lot of people with worse numbers than me got in last cycle too so I guess I was a bit negative and OP has a pretty solid chance. My application was definitely an exception, not the rule.Br3v wrote:wowJWalker wrote:It's possible but I think the GPA is a bit low. I'm at NYU right now and I love it here so it's all good.Br3v wrote:Any guess why? Where did you end up?JWalker wrote:

As for Columbia, my application was seriously rushed. Basically I started writing my essays after I got my October LSAT score and sent in my apps just a week or two later, so they were presumably awful. While NYU is well-known for accepting virtually anyone with LSAT/GPA numbers in their range, I guess Columbia is a bit more picky and didn't like the application as a whole.

I'm split between Eding Columbia (for the slight chance that I may get in) or Eding NYU/Penn.
Even between NYU and Penn the decision is difficult. They seem to be pretty much peers for placement but NYU will cost at least 30k more for living expenses. Coming from the west coast (and hoping to go back) living in manhattan would be amazing for 3 years though.
As far as WE goes, I worked at a small start up for a while but I should be moving into a clerking position at a 300+ lawyer boutique IP litigation firm this next week.

I'd ED CLS if you have no preference between CLS and NYU (or if you prefer CLS).iMisto wrote:NYU's LSAT median dropped to 171.

Technicality here, but do we have anything actually confirming that the median for c/o 2015 is 171? I'm pretty sure you're right, but we haven't gotten anything official (at least not at orientation).

I thought it had been discussed in Medians thread - Choosing A Law School.
I would do either NYU/CLS, but OP asked about CLS...
