Well, both schools have stipulations that make it likely you will lose your scholly after 1L. Are you from Jersey? R-N is likely gonna be the way cheaper option.

I'm retaking in Oct. as well. With a 166-168 you chances at scholarships from R-N or SH are high (a lot higher then if you were to stick with you 161). Are you set on only applying to NJ schools? With a 167+ you are looking at some money from WUSTL or UMN and depending on the score, outside chances at BU/BC (albeit with little to no money). While there is there are upsides to attending a lower ranked school with serious money, it may be better for future career prospects to attend a higher ranked with no cash. The truth is that almost no one can afford 200k in loans. I will let the more experienced TLSrs handle the career advice when it comes to the R-N/SH vs. Higher Ranked.

I'm assuming he's from Jersey (would be weird to have his heart set on the state if he isn't), in which case it's wise to stick to Jersey schools with money (unless a T14 is on the table, which it isn't unless he hits 170+). Check out lawschoolnumbers.com to see previous RU-N (and RU-C?) applicants and how much money they got. RU seems to be in so much trouble right now he could probably negotiate away most stipulations if he got money.

I got $45k from SHU with around the same numbers before I retook. You should get money for sure from SHU.
