Re: 171/3.78 t14/cash chances
Confound questions much? Or maybe I'm not fully understanding you... but it seems that you are asking both whether you have a shot at money in T14 and whether you have any shot at HYSCCN (regardless of money). Yes, some money lower T-14. Yes, some T10 acceptances, possibly with some (lesser money) there too. Yes, probably one or more of CCN, without money. Probably not HYS, but worth applying at all, and best shot for you is likely S.helix23 wrote:171/3.78
Graduated UC Berkely, good softs: magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, been working in a mid-large size law firm since graduation (1+ year, will be 2 when I matriculate), good LORs, decent-good PS. Not URM.
Also, the 3.78 is my cumulative. I got 3.7 at community college and 3.86 at degree-granting (Cal). Not sure if this is relevant or even looked at. Only took LSAT once but I'm not really interested in retaking.
what are chances for t14 and any money? specifically any shot at HYS-CCN.
Thanks!
But if you weren't asking distinct questions, then the answer is no, no money at HYS or CCN.

Good to know! thanks!rollie wrote:These were my exact stats, similar softs/WE, undergrad at Big Game rival - was WL'ed at Harvard and Columbia, in at Chicago and NYU, with a little bit of money from Chicago. Got more money from lower T14, but nothing more than half scholarship - I didn't apply to all of the lower T14, so it's possible that some of them would have given more $$, but I'm doubtful that it would have been more than what I got elsewhere.
If you don't mind me asking, anything come of the Harvard WL?

Re: 171/3.78 t14/cash chances
You gotta boost your LSAT to above Harvard's median (173) to really have a chance. Better work experience than being a paralegal would help too. You're out at YS because your GPA is too low to admit without having awesome softs (publications, PhD, prestigious work experience, etc)
Other than that, you'll get Chi and NYU. Both probably with some $$. Probably WL at Columbia because they're LSAT whores.

I pretty much agree with the others. You'll get some money from the t-14. HYS and CCN will be a bit tougher and this is where you'll start getting dinged. I say you have a chance at H, but if you could bump up your LSAT even 2 points you'll be in much better shape.helix23 wrote:sorry for confounding you, but you understood me correctly. What are my chances in t14 (esp HYS-CCN) and overall can I pull any dollars.
Thanks for your input!
Keep on working hard and good things will follow.

Law schools seem to like a few kinds of work experience, including: finance/IB/consulting, federal/state government policy work, TFA, and something really out there saving the world that can be turned into an interesting personal statement (ex: I worked with disabled children in Cambodia).helix23 wrote:Really? Thanks for the input, btw!
Unfortunately, these jobs take up like 1% of the work force
